Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ; Malay: ''Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya'') is a local authority which is in charge of the Subang Jaya city and the southern parts of Petaling district. This agency is under Selangor state government of Malaysia. MPSJ are responsible for the public's health and sanitation, waste removal and management, town planning, environmental protection and building control, social and economic development and general maintenance functions of urban infrastructure. The MPSJ headquarters is located in USJ 5. == History == Formerly known as Majlis Daerah Petaling (MDP) (Petaling District Council) which administrated the entire Petaling district (except Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya North, and Shah Alam). In 1997, Subang Jaya was granted the status of a municipality. The local authority was then transferred from the Majlis Perbandaran Petaling Jaya (MPPJ) (Petaling Jaya Municipal Council) which administrates Subang Jaya north area to the newly gazetted Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ) (Subang Jaya Municipal Council). The MPSJ holds local government authority not only in Subang Jaya, but also townships located within the city such as USJ, Putra Heights, Bandar Sunway and Batu Tiga and other townships like Puchong, Kinrara, Seri Kembangan, and other southern parts of Petaling district.
